The proceeds of the "Cultural Relation - Ship" prints will be donated, together with
a specially designed painting, to the Hamlin Fistula Hospital in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia.

This hospital specialises in helping women with injuries caused by obstructed labour. Because women marry young (14 years) and have babies before their bodies are ready and they are sometimes in labour for five days.
When the dead baby finally comes out the woman is left with terrible internal injuries. There is a hole in her bladder and sometimes her rectum. Urine and stool flows out without a way to stop it. She is constantly wet and very smelly. Her husband leaves her and she sometimes lives alone with this condition for twenty years before she gets taken or found by the people from the fistula hospital.
A simple operation is all that is needed. But sometimes the injuries are so bad the women are permanently disabled.
The money from this donation will help more women to reach this hospital and have a chance to live a normal life again. You can read more about the hospital in the book 'The hospital by the river' by DR Catherine Hamlin.
